Jeannie Larson

Jeannie was introduced to musical theater as a child when a neighbor invited her to see Once Upon a Mattress and she visualized herself as part of the production. She would actually see herself standing on the stage. It was at that moment that she dedicated her life to the theater – and with that dedication she made the commitment to practice, dance, sing, and act. Any one of those endeavors is a worthy vocation in itself, but it takes special talent and tremendous dedication to exceed in all those areas. Fortunately, her dream came true and she was able to make a living by dancing, singing, and acting.  Jeannie spent many hours as a young adult creating characters, pirouetting, and singing high C’s. She also came to realize how important and vital performing artists are – and how much they enrich a community.  Jeannie is a graduate of University of Southern California, where she earned a Bachelor’s inDrama and Dance. She also studied abroad with the British American Academy of Dramatic Art of the Yale School of Drama.  Jeannie last performed as Bombalurina with the National Tour of Cats.  She has a diverse range of accomplishments that include musical theater productions, industrials, commercials, and films; her most recent endeavors include teaching theater classes and choreographing dance numbers for local dance companies in metro Sacramento.  Her intention is to give back to the community by rawing upon her professional experiences. In doing so, she plans to earn your respect and inspire all our children in the theater. Jeannie and her husband, Brian, are proud parents of Emily, Erin, Karrie, and Katie.

Kris Hunt

"But what I really want, is to direct!"

Kris Hunt had no ambitions for the theatre. Nope. None. In spite of the fact that her parents introduced the family to live theatre at an early age. In spite of the fact that she lived in an area filled with wonderful productions from amateurs and semi-professionals. And in spite of the fact that her parents considered a three-hour trip to Chicago to catch Zero Mostel in Fiddler on the Roof, Carol Channing in Hello, Dolly, or the newest show like A Chorus Line to be a perfectly reasonable day trip.

But in college (during a brief time when she was going to be the world's greatest author), Kris took a playwriting class. And she thought it might be a good idea to get a little experience backstage and see how this whole "play" thing worked. She asked Playcrafters Barn Theatre in Moline, IL if she could help out during a production. Since that time she has built sets, painted scenery, worked lights, worked sound, gathered props, moved furniture, and stage managed. Oh, and yes, some plays have been written and produced. But it wasn't until she was working lights for The Magic Circle Theatre and giving WAY too many opinions about the show when producer Bob Gerould suggested she put herself on stage and see what it was like.

Now Kris' resume has reached the "several feet stage", including (by some miracle - since singing is NOT her strong suit) a number of musicals, mysteries, comedies and dramas all over the Sacramento area. The inclusion of Assistant Director and Director to her resume encouraged Jennifer Vaughn, one of the creators of the Youth Program at Magic Circle Theatre, to ask Kris to join her in teaching workshops. Kris has been thrilled to share her love of all aspects of live theatre with young people over the years. Watching them come out of their shells and celebrate what is so basic to human nature, communication - story- telling - listening and reaching out, is exciting even now.

Kris is very happy to join Rocklin Youth Theatre.
